The main Payt alternatives in Ireland are Adfin, which takes payments and chases with no monthly fee, the reminders built into Xero and QuickBooks Online, and Paidnice, priced in euro by invoice volume. Payt itself is Dutch accounts receivable software that automates invoice reminders for a monthly fee set by how many invoices you send, from €39.95 a month for up to 30, and it doesn't collect payments, so you connect a provider such as Mollie, Adyen or Twikey.

What Payt does and what it costs
Payt describes itself as accounts receivable management software. It reads your invoices from your accounting system and sends reminders on a schedule you set, by email, SMS and letter, and it can bundle several invoices into one reminder. Payt lists Ireland among the six countries it operates in, alongside the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, the United Kingdom and France.
Its regular plans are priced in euro by the number of invoices you send each month:
- €39.95 a month for up to 30 invoices and one administration
- €69.95 a month for up to 75 invoices and two administrations
- €159.95 a month for up to 250 invoices and up to three administrations
- a tailored quote above 250 invoices
You'll pay the same fee whether your customers pay on time or not, and the plan moves up as your invoice count grows. Each regular plan also caps the number of administrations, and the number of official final reminders included, from two on the lowest plan to ten on the highest. The administration cap is relevant if you're a practice thinking of running credit control for several clients, or a group with more than one company.
Payt doesn't take the money itself. Payments go straight into your own account, but for customers to pay online you connect a payment provider such as Mollie or Adyen, and for direct debit you connect one such as Mollie or Twikey, which needs your own account with that provider. That's a second contract, a second set of fees and a second system to keep in step with your reminders.
The alternatives compared
| Option | What it is | How it's priced | How customers pay |
|---|---|---|---|
| Payt | Accounts receivable software | €39.95 to €159.95 a month by invoice volume | Through a payment provider you connect, such as Mollie, Adyen or Twikey |
| Adfin | Payments and credit control in one | No monthly fee; 20c + 1% per successful payment, 1% part capped at €2 on SEPA direct debit and bank transfer (cards not capped); Essential credit control free, Enhanced 0.3% per paid invoice | SEPA direct debit, card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, pay by bank and bank transfer, taken by Adfin |
| Xero | Accounting software with reminders | Included in your Xero plan | Through Stripe for cards and GoCardless for direct debit, connected separately |
| QuickBooks Online | Accounting software with reminders | Included in your QuickBooks plan | Through the payment apps you connect |
| Paidnice | Credit control software | €59 a month for up to 150 invoices; Pro from €85; SMS €0.08 each | Works with Xero, QuickBooks Online and Stripe |
Adfin collects and chases in the same place, so a reminder carries a link the customer can pay from straight away, and you don't need a separate provider. Payment links go out by email, SMS or WhatsApp, and you can collect regular fees by SEPA direct debit, with the customer told before each collection. Adfin is a certified Xero app and a certified QuickBooks app with two-way sync, and payments taken through it are marked paid automatically. Payouts arrive gross, with fees invoiced separately. The free Essential level gives you unlimited reminders by email, SMS and WhatsApp, statements and debtor reporting. Enhanced, at 0.3% per paid invoice and only when it's used, adds Adfin's collection agents. They adjust timing, channel and tone for each customer within rules you approve, and you also get automatic statutory interest on business invoices and emails sent from your own address.
Xero and QuickBooks Online already chase without an extra tool, by email. In Xero, you set when automatic reminders go out relative to the due date. QuickBooks Online in Ireland stops at three reminders per invoice, all within 90 days of the due date, and only on invoices you've emailed from QuickBooks. Neither takes the payment itself, so customers pay through a service you connect, such as Stripe or GoCardless in Xero.
Paidnice charges in a similar way to Payt, with a monthly fee by invoice volume, starting at €59 for up to 150 invoices. Its plans connect to Xero, QuickBooks Online and Stripe, and late fees and interest can be added automatically. Like Payt, you pay the monthly fee whether or not invoices are paid that month.
Which alternative suits a practice or a business
If you're an accountancy practice collecting your own fees, think about how they arrive. Fixed monthly fees suit SEPA direct debit, and with Payt you'd need a provider you've set up yourself for that. One-off fees, such as personal tax returns, tend to be easier for clients to pay when the reminder carries a payment link, and statutory interest only applies to business clients, never to individuals you act for in a personal capacity.
If you'd like to run credit control for clients as a service, look at how each tool handles more than one business. In Adfin, each client you take on can be added under your practice's login as a business of its own, paying out to an account in the client's name and keeping its own Xero or QuickBooks connection, customers and chasing rules. You move between clients from the sidebar. There's no per-business licence, because pricing is per payment.
If you're a business sending a modest number of invoices a month, compare a fixed monthly fee with paying only when something is collected or chased. A quiet month on a volume plan costs the same as a busy one, while a per-payment price follows the money that actually comes in.
Whichever you choose, check three things during a trial: whether payments are marked paid in your accounting software without you matching them, whether reminders stop the moment an invoice is paid, and whether interest can be left off for consumers.
