Adfin | Announcing our Series A: Raising $18 million to help the world build better businesses

Today we’re proud to announce we've closed our Series A, bringing the total invested in Adfin to over $30M in less than two years. Our long-time supporters Index Ventures have tripled down by leading the round, along with existing investors Visionaries Club. We're also delighted to welcome Stéphane Kurgan, one of Europe's best operators, and Andrey Khusid, founder of Miro as new investors.

While we started with helping businesses get paid on time, we are now setting our sights beyond this. We want businesses using Adfin to automate their entire finance process: money that moves itself, with teams free to focus on what actually requires judgement. We firmly believe the future of money movement is exceptional payments infrastructure plus AI: automating the tedious, manual tasks, while keeping humans in control. The Series A gives us the resources to get there.

Where we started: the tools to Just Get Paid

Why are 63% of all businesses paid late?

From the moment we started Adfin, this question burned away at us. An invoice is the product of a legally binding contract between two parties but two thirds of small businesses are still not being paid on time.

This blows our minds. So we started Adfin to give businesses the tools to get paid, on time, and in a way that strengthens relationships with customers, not damages them.

There is no magic bullet to getting paid. Every business is different. But there is one necessary foundation: great payments infrastructure. So the first step in Adfin's journey was to build the payments infrastructure required to move money as efficiently as possible.This was bread and butter to our product and engineering team, who have decades of deep experience building truly scalable foundational payments infrastructure from scratch.

That infrastructure has already delivered outstanding results for Adfin customers. Direct debit mandates that are signed 3x faster than before, because Adfin sends mandate requests from your email address with a personalised message, not a generic mailbox. Invoices that get paid because Adfin sends an alternative payment link the second a direct debit fails, instead of waiting to retry. Integrations with accounting software that actually work. Transparent pricing that means you only pay for successful payments. Daily settlement instead of weekly. And the list goes on.

Today, Adfin customers see only 9% of their invoices paid late: nearly 7x better than the 63% figure for the UK as a whole. This is good. But it's not enough. We won't rest until that number is zero. That progress hasn't gone unnoticed. We were recently named the fastest growing startup in the UK and the 3rd fastest in Europe by Scaling Europe.

Where we’re going: money that moves itself

Our customers tell us that getting paid is one of the most painful workflows in business, but it’s not the only one. The same combination of infrastructure and AI can transform every part of the money movement stack.

Adfin is building the agentic finance platform for money movement: automating the workflows finance teams use to get paid, manage their money, and in time, much more. And we're doing it the way our customers keep telling us they want: safe, auditable, trackable, with humans firmly in control. By owning both the underlying financial infrastructure and the agentic workflows on top, we'll let finance teams deploy agents in a way nobody else can.

Why does this matter? If you're getting paid faster and optimising your cash flow, you're building a better business. Money movement isn't admin, it's the bloodstream of every company. We believe this so strongly that we've rewritten our mission around it. Adfin's purpose, from today, is to help the world build better businesses.

Coming soon: customer agents

The first place you'll see agentic workflows in action in Adfin is in credit control. We'll soon be launching customer agents: a new way of handling credit control that automates the tedious work, from late fee calculations to reminder sequences tailored to each customer, while keeping every judgement call firmly in your hands. You decide how much to automate. You decide where to step in. Customer agents handle the rest.

This is just the start. Over time, the same approach will extend across more of the work finance teams do every day. The Series A is what lets us go and do it.
