Credit control
Xero integration
Mona Careers places actors in customer-facing roles for hospitality, retail and brand clients. Mona uses Adfin to automate their credit control, so invoices get followed up without taking time away from client relationships.

How Mona took the chasing off the founders' plate
Mona pays its workforce on the last weekday of every month, but many of its clients take far longer to pay. Credit control was manual, and it fell to the founders who also manage those client relationships.
Since June, Adfin has followed up on every Xero invoice automatically. Average days to pay have fallen from 25.8 to 9.7, and this year the team hasn't had a payroll they've been worried about.

Challenge
A fixed payroll, and invoices that took their time
Mona was founded three years ago on a simple premise: the skills actors build for the stage make them excellent in customer-facing roles. The business started with hospitality clients, which is still its foundation, and now also staffs in-store sampling, brand activations, content and TikTok Shop, tours and cold calling.
The longer-term aim is to support actors with everything apart from the acting itself, starting with flexible work that fits around their careers.
Mona pays its workforce on the last weekday of every month. Some workers do a single shift, and for others Mona is their main source of income. Either way, that date doesn't move.
Many of Mona's clients are larger businesses, with longer payment terms and approval processes that run well beyond the person who booked the work. Credit control was manual, downloading invoices from Xero and emailing clients one by one, and it fell to the founders, who also manage those client relationships.
The gap between payroll and slow-moving invoices was one of the main reasons Mona raised funding last year.
“We'd have a constant cycle every month. The last week before payroll, I'd be going, right, this one needs to be paid or we are toast.”

Solution
Follow-ups that don't depend on the founders
Since June 2026, Adfin has followed up on Mona's Xero invoices automatically and on a consistent schedule. That has taken the awkward conversations out of account management. Clients get a reminder from Adfin, and the team keep their conversations about the work.
“When you're account managing, you want positivity at the centre of it. It's very hard to do that and then ask for money, even if they are in the wrong.”
Charlie Dunne · Co-Founder, Mona Careers
Adfin is also picking up invoices that used to slip through. Mona's longest-standing client recently paid an invoice from the previous year without a manual chase.
What's next
Mona is now adjusting how Adfin follows up with each client based on how they pay, so reliable payers aren't over-contacted and attention goes to the accounts that need it. Next year, the team plans to move regular clients onto Direct Debit, starting with the accounts where relationships are strongest.
Results
Faster payments, and no payroll to worry about
The share of Mona's invoices paid late has fallen from 67% to 22%, the share paid within a week has gone from 0% to 46%, and average days to pay have fallen from 25.8 to 9.7. This year, the team hasn't had a payroll they've been worried about.
For Mona, getting paid on time is part of the promise the business makes to the people who work for it.
“There's always going to be a need for this, because of the cash flow pressure that comes with payroll and the commitment we make to our workforce.”
